Come Celebrate our new Adastra Skate Park!

Hassocks has a brand new wheel park – for skateboarders, scooter riders, and other disciplines  – and to celebrate, the Parish Council is hosting an official opening Jam session on Saturday 13th July from 12 noon till 2pm.

For those who are unacquainted with the concept of a “Jam” – this has nothing to do with fruit and sugar – but everything to do with showcasing what can be done on wheels using the facility. Once the ribbon is cut, semi – professional skaters will demonstrate their skills on the concrete, offer coaching andfun competitions’ with prizes from various sponsors including Level Skateboards and Rock Solid Distribution, to be won. Entry is free and kids, and adults, of all ages are welcome to come and try their hand.

The facility, costing £100,000 and built using Parish Council funds and contributions from local housing developments, has been a number of years in the planning but is one of the first projects to be delivered as part of the “Adastra Park Masterplan”.

“The Parish Council is keen to make Adastra Park a Park for everyone and the old skate facility was fast becoming unfit for use” says Cllr Ian Weir, Chairman of Hassocks Parish Council. “From our initial public consultation in January we selected Bendcrete as our chosen partner, and their team have done an excellent job in finishing the wheel park to a high standard, ahead of schedule”.
