2. TO ACCEPT DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST. Disclosure by Councillors of personal and/or pecuniary interests in matters on the agenda and whether the Councillors regard their interest as prejudicial/pecuniary under the terms of the Code of Conduct.

MID SUSSEX DISTRICT COUNCIL

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER) 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Mid Sussex District Council, in pursuance of their powers under the above Acts have ordered and directed that as:

Newlands Close, Hassocks

(between house number 1 and 8)

will be thronged and liable to be obstructed, that the aforesaid streets, and parts of streets, will be closed to vehicular traffic (including pedal cycles and horses) between the hours of 10:00 and 22:00 on Saturday 9th October 2025 or such lesser period as may be required for the Newlands Close Hassocks Street Party to take place. PROVIDED THAT this temporary closure is subject to any direction, which may be given by a police constable in uniform.

Wilful breach of this Order renders offenders liable to a penalty not exceeding Twenty Pounds.

Draft Minutes of the PLANNING COMMITTEE Meeting held on Monday 28th July 2025 at 7.30pm in the Parish Centre, Adastra Park, Hassocks

Attendees: Parish Councillors: Cllr Lesley Cruickshank-Robb, Cllr Don McBeth, Cllr Bob Brewer.

P25/31 APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE. Apologies were received from Cllr Maria Angelaki-King,
Cllr Bill Hatton and Cllr Kristian Berggreen. Cllr Lesley Cruickshank -Robb chaired the meeting.

P25/32 DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST. There were no declarations of interest.

P25/33 MINUTES. It was RESOLVED that the minutes of the Planning Committee meeting held on
7th July 2025 be signed by the Chair as a true and accurate record of the meeting.

P25/34 PUBLIC PARTICIPATION. No members of the public present.

P25/35 APPLICATIONS:

P25/35.1 DM/25/1646 The Thatched Inn Grand Avenue Hassocks West Sussex BN6 8DH Retrospective Application to retain a raised timber decking structure installed in the front garden area of the Thatched Inn.

RECOMMENDATION:  The committee considered this application. In view of the fact that there are no objections logged and the Parish Council wish to support a local business, they recommend permission is granted.

DP26 – Character & Design. There is insufficient information regarding type of materials/windows to be used, more detailed plans are required.

DP42 – Flood risk and Drainage. Land owner has riparian responsibilities. There is a stream running along the rear boundary of the property. An assessment should be completed to measure the impact of this large extension.

DP37 – Tree survey required to ensure the development will not impact mature trees that surround the stream along the boundary.
