3. MINUTES. To accept the Minutes of the meeting held on 22 December 2025 (previously circulated). The meeting scheduled to be held on 12 January was cancelled due to a power cut at the Parish Office.

8. MSDC DISTRICT PLAN HEARING DATES. The committee are asked to note the following dates for the new District Plan hearings – 24-27 Feb, 3-6 Mar and 17-20 Mar.

9. URGENT MATTERS at the discretion of the Chairman for noting and/or inclusion on a future agenda.

10. Date of Next Meeting. Monday 23 February 2026.

P25/102 APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE. Apologies were received from Cllrs Maria Angelaki-King, Bill Hatton, Peter Reime.

P25/103 DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST. There were no declarations of interest.

P25/104 MINUTES. It was RESOLVED that the minutes of the Planning Committee meeting held on
22nd December 2025 be signed by the Chair as a true and accurate record of the meeting. The meeting scheduled for 12th January was unable to go ahead due to a power cut.

P25/106.1 DM/25/2046 Evergreen London Road Hassocks West Sussex BN6 9NA Outline planning application for 4 detached dwellings, two of which have separate garage blocks.

RECOMMENDATION: The committee recommend permission is refused.

  • The transport statement is based on a proposed development from 2016; an up-to-date study is necessary.
  • Development in this area will further erode the strategic gap between Hassocks & Burgess Hill.
  • The flood risk assessment is based on 2016 data. An up-to-date report is necessary to accurately measure current risks.
  • The committee support the concerns of the MSDC Tree officer and Naturespace surrounding wildlife and mature trees on the site.

RECOMMENDATION: The committee recommend permission is refused. The committee note the comments from West Sussex Highways that there is insufficient space at the front of the property. There is a risk that a vehicle could overhang the pavement and cause an obstruction.
