A meeting of the Parish Council is being held on Tuesday 8 September 2026 at 7.30pm in the Council Chamber, Parish Centre, Adastra Park, Hassocks.

Members of the public are encouraged to come to the meetings and there is an opportunity for them to address the Council relating to the non-confidential items on the published agenda. A period of 15 minutes will be set aside in item 4 Public participation. It may be necessary to consider particular items in confidential session and where this arises, these items will be considered at the end of the agenda.

2. DISCLOSURE OF INTERESTS – To deal with any disclosure by Members of any disclosable pecuniary interests and interests other than pecuniary interests, as defined under Hassocks Parish Council’s Code of Conduct and the Localism Act 2011, in relation to matters on the agenda.
3. MINUTES – To accept the minutes of the Parish Council meeting held on 14 July 2026.
4. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION – Up to fifteen minutes will be available to allow for the public to make representations, answer questions or give evidence in respect of any items of business included in the agenda, in accordance with Standing Orders.

The Council has an annual budget of £6,000 for Community Grants. The application guidelines state that projects must be achievable within a year and grants are for a maximum of £600 each. (Appendix 2). Members are requested to consider each application in turn and determine the level of any award (Appendix 3).
9. CHAIR’S REPORT – Current Matters (oral report)
Income Generation – the Chair would like to establish a working group to consider how the Council could raise additional funds for support revenue costs.

11. ADASTRA PARK PUBLIC TOILETS – update on the refurbishment project (Appendix 4).
12. PROJECT BUDGETS (Appendix 5)
12.1 Birch Way to Grand Avenue (PROW 21k) – Members are asked to APPROVE the release of up to £7,140 in EMR 358 – PROW Improvements to fund an all-weather surface.
12.2 Orchard Lane – Members are asked to APPROVE the release of £850 from the General Reserve to fund pothole repairs in Orchard Lane.
12.3 Lodge Lane – Members are asked to APPROVE the reallocation and release of £2,972 in EMR 344 – Village Signs to fund a pedestrian and cycle survey on Lodge Lane.
12.4 Sports Pavilion heating – Members are asked to APPROVE the release of £2,500 in EMR 334 – Adastra Park Masterplan to fund consultancy advice regarding the sports pavilion heating and hot water supply.
13. EXTERNAL AUDIT – Report and Certificate 2025/26 (Appendix 6)
14. OUTSIDE REPRESENTANTIVE APPOINTMENT – Cllr Peter Reime has agreed to become the Council’s nominated Charity Trustee at Oldlands Mill. Members are asked to formally APPROVE his appointment.
15. URGENT MATTERS AT THE DISCRETION OF THE CHAIR for noting and/or inclusion on a future agenda.
16. DATE OF NEXT MEETING – To note that the date of the next Council meeting is Tuesday 13 October 2026.
